Mercado Juarez Cafe

This is usually a great place for lunch. The food is good and the portions sizable. Most of my experiences at this Mercado Juarez are at least good, if not great.

Our last visit (8 people) was a little appalling due to our server. The food, as usual, was excellent. It was hot, having been prepared quickly, and just the way we ordered. Our server, however, was off his game, though. He seemed very caught up in conversation with his coworkers and would rush through the rare "check-up" during our meal.

During our visit (over an hour), he came over to check on us three times. We had empty drinks for long periods of time. He forgot to follow-up on some initial requests, and left two people in our party without their initial tortillas for 10 min after the food was brought out. One of us had to get up and go ask him for those tortillas.

I usually don't pick on servers, however, this gentleman really made it seem his conversation(s) were terribly important. When the previously-mentioned tortillas were forgotten, he was in conversation. While we were waiting on drinks (and after we signaled for him repeatedly), he was in conversation. While rushing through the check-up, he quickly went back to conversation.

Mind you, if it had been peak hour and he was busy, this would not require mentioning. However, this was after peak time and the restaurant was half-empty to the point where others servers were preparing utensil bundles.

I hope you don't get discouraged from visiting this place. The food IS delicious and authentic Tex-Mex. My combination fajitas were excellent. Our other entrees (quesadillas, enchiladas, carnitas, and more) received praise from the group as well. We will be back ourselves... however, we hope our next server is as attentive as we're used to.

Excellent food and great service! I absolutely love the ambiance here! Always feels like coming home! Anything you order here is good.

Always the best fajitas and homemade tortillas and hot sauce. Service is always great too. Customer 25 years strong!

Pretty good food. I don't think you will be disappointed. Can get VERY busy, but the waitstaff seems to keep up! Will definitely go again!

Great Mexican Food, love their Nachos with everything. They are super! Their Margaritas are also very good. A good place to go for a large group for a special occasion or just for 2. I have been for a Retirement Party with a Large group of 25 + & a party of 2 both received the same fantastic service????????
