Finally! Ferah Tex-Med is finally open in Southlake! We have driven past the building for months, waiting for that “Coming Soon” sign to disappear! I received an email today (get on their mailing list) saying that the first day of their soft opening was today, so we immediately made a reservation for dinner. Let me tell you, it was worth the wait!! Dress was casual, but not tank top and flip flops casual.

We were enthusiastically greeted as soon as we opened the door, so things were off to a good start. Our server, Dylan, greeted us and asked if we had any allergies they should be aware of. I have only been asked that at one other restaurant, and I love that they ask!

I highly recommend you start with the Chef’s Sampler Platter, especially if you haven’t been there before. Everything was fantastic, but two things really knocked my socks off! (1) The fried goat cheese was the first. I love goat cheese, but this was the best I have ever had. Make sure to eat it with the pomegranate salad on top, too! When I took my first bite, there was an explosion of the creamiest goat cheese you can imagine, coupled with the crunch of the cornflake coating and the pop of the pomegranate seeds. My fiancé doesn’t care for goat cheese and he even said this was in his top 2 on the plate! (2) the bacon wrapped stuffed dates. I know that sounds like a strange combination, but imagine this - a sweet, chewy date stuffed with that same amazing, creamy goat cheese, then wrapped with crisp bacon and served with a chipotle aioli. OMG! I haven’t had anything like it before!!

Can it get better than that? Apparently so! The co-owners dropped by to introduce themselves and shared some of the history about the food, the restaurant and their long friendship and business partnership with the chef. It was a truly fascinating story and experience, made even better when the chef stopped by later in the meal. Food is great, but becomes even better when there is a story behind it! They do have a chef’s bar coming soon, and we are looking forward to that experience!

I could go on and on, but I will make the rest of this brief. My fiancé had the gyro platter. The meat was extremely tender and he said the rice and roasted vegetables were done really well. I had the gnocchi with shrimp. I only ate half and brought the rest home because I had to save room for dessert! It seems that few places do this anymore, but Dylan took my dish and boxed it up for me in the back. That is just one more thing that makes Ferah stand out.

Finally, dessert. Baklava sounded amazing, but the Texas Shaped Chocolate Mousse Cake was calling my name. The mousse had an amazing and creamy texture. I just had to close my eyes and savor every taste and texture. The cake is something you just have to try for yourself, but if you enjoy chocolate, you really can’t go wrong here!

I have lunch plans with a couple of girlfriends tomorrow, and texted them before we had even finished our meal tonight to inform them of a change in locale! I made reservations at Ferah for tomorrow so I can go back! The big question is what to have. I’m thinking the fried goat cheese and the bacon wrapped dates might make a good meal - followed by the chocolate mousse cake, of course!

    8/6/2022 update

I saw that Ferah was having a 'Battle of the Chefs' over this weekend and that sounded like fun, so we made reservations for last night. I don't want to give it away, but see the photos then go try them and vote on your favorite! I will tell you, though, that we had a split vote in this house!

We ordered those dishes along with the chef's sampler, which we already knew we loved. We followed dinner up with their baklava, which is amazing!

Our first visit was 4 weeks ago. My second visit was 3 weeks and 6 days ago. We were amazed that one of the owners recognized us and greeted us with "Welcome back!" On our way out, the server from my second visit said "Hello! Good to see you again!" What talent for recognizing faces and making us feel a little special!

Fantastic experience! Top notch food, beautiful decor, and excellent service. Very inventive cocktail list! Our server was Miguel and he was so sweet and attentive. Also, the owner was busy all night helping the staff which is Refreshing to see. Have the Airplane chicken, you will not be disappointed!

Excellent food and ambience. The Sampler was a great choice for a first visit. Dates were awesome. Risotto was rich and creamy.

Drinks were amazing. I had the Smoky Old Fashioned (off menu). It was one of the best drinks I’ve had, and the presentation of pouring it was cool with the smoke.

    Server was cool. Very friendly.

    We’ll be back for sure.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Ferah. The food was delicious and the service was great.Highly recommend the chef’s platter appetizer with the hummus, bacon wrapped dates and falafel. Loved the chicken pita and branzino as well. Ferah’s is a great addition to Southlake.

Fantastic ambiance, service, menu and overall experience at Ferah Tex-Med Kitchen!! We tried many things and shared in our group. Highly recommend the hummus, fried goat cheese, falafel, crab cake sliders, braised short rib, and Texas chocolate cake. Looking forward to going back and trump more amazing items on their menu. Great date night, but also a perfect spot for a girls night or group get together!
