1836 Steakhouse

A great discovery when staying in town on business. The place looks like an old mansion of sorts from the outside and is very nicely decorated on the inside. The manager greeted us at the door, introduced himself, and shook our hands. Good start!

We had the option of the more lively upstairs or a quieter downstairs, we opted for the downstairs because we wanted to have some business discussion.

The service was very good, my drink never found itself empty, and everything came out in proper timing, nothing rushed and nothing late, just right.

The food was delicious from A-Z. My Cesar salad was just right, but my companions house salad had a few undesirable pieces of lettuce, but nothing tragic. I had the Ribeye prepared black & blue; it came out perfectly cooked and the seasoning was very nicely done as well. My companion had the Pepper Filet and he said it was fantastic. My broccoli was also nicely seasoned and steamed.

For dessert we had the Charred Angel Food Cake with Whipped Cream and Fresh Strawberry Slices. Don't let the charred bit scare you, it was more of a light toasting on the grill, and it was so good. It nicely warmed the cake and provided a subtle bit of crispness that I never knew I needed in my AFC. The whipped cream was also nicely made and not too sweet.

All in all, I couldn't be happier and can't wait to come back on our next trip through town.

The ambiance is wonderful, the steaks were tender and very delicious. Our waiter was extremely polite, friendly and helpful. There are lots of choices on the menu, so most people should find something that they like. I wanted to give 1836 Steakhouse 4.5 stars, as there was a tiny bit more salt on the steaks than our group favors. That said, we all highly recommend this restaurant.

I love the atmosphere in the building.

This was a great evening with top notch service, attentive management and fun visit with the head chief. Steaks were over the top great and I had the best baked potato I've ever had. The entire experience was completely enjoyable in every way!

This is a lovely place to have a nice dinner. Enjoy the wine and great steak, along with carefully selected assortment of appetizers. The chicken and fish options are also tasty. Healthy, fresh ingredients. There's a wonderful ambiance, especially on the second floor where the bar is not too far away. Try this place out. I'm a repeat visitor and always enjoy the great food and the great service.
