When I first to town everyone talked about it so I had to try it. Honestly they so take their time but for the following reasons, food never comes out cold, everything is made from scratch, and it is a popular hole in the wall that in my opinion, a hidden gem everyone should try. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, with or without taking anyone its a must.
A must for breakfast in Brenham! The location doesn’t do this place justice but it is well worth the short drive west. Great service, food and atmosphere. We will definitely be back!
This came up in a search for coffee shops but it is definitely a cafe/restaurant - not a grab and go type coffee shop. The breakfast was a bit pricey - and they were out of major items today (like biscuits for the biscuits and gravy ordered - served toast instead). I give it 4 stars because the service was good. Desserts looked yummy and it’s a cute atmosphere. Maybe better in the evening - looks like the serve a good variety of beer.
We came to Smitty's based on a local recommendation and have enjoyed our meals in this unassuming location (pretty cool decommissioned gas station) on both visits. We recommend Chicken and Waffles for breakfast and the Firecracker Burger for lunch.
Service was attentive both times, although it was unclear on our first visit that we should collect our own menus and napkin cutlery rolls before seating ourselves. By our second visit, we were old hats. During our first visit, internet service was down, so they could only accept cash, and it took some time for our server to get to our table.
Prices were higher than expected, especially for breakfast items, but I suppose this is par for the course for our times.
Thankful for the service and delicious meal offerings!
A converted gas station is where this place is located. Very cool. Our super friendly waitress was on top of the service, despite the kitchen being a little slow (it was really busy when we arrived). Food was excellent, and well worth the wait. Coffee was really good, too (I’m an iced americano guy, but they only have hot brewed coffee and I still liked it!)!
