Mel's Place

This is a self seating kind of place which I like. We were greeted when we came in and asked how many we had. We were with a big group (10+) and we're given an option to sit at a large enough table for everyone. Drink orders were taken and delivered promptly. Once we were ready to order the food we got the same great service. Prompt and courteous! This was our first visit to Mel's and it just so happened to be my birthday. Before we left for the evening our waitress told me she hoped I enjoyed the rest of my birthday. You don't get that most other places. My family and I will definitely be back at Mel's very soon!

The service was good. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich and it was very good and huge. The sandwich came with fries and they were over cooked. The sandwich over shadowed what was lacking in the fries.

The catfish had couple bones in it. Not really much of a menu only had burgers chicken fried steak and couple other options. Honestly can't say that we will go back. They need to offer shrimp as well. Just had there desserts we had a chocolate pie and coconut pie they are average at best

Mel's place is one of those places you think of when you're thinking...."Hum, I want some country style home cookin". The atmosphere is all country and sometimes rowdy (loud) like what a cafeteria in a school feels like. Comfortable, I guess would be the right way to say it. You have to get the Chicken fried steak! Very tasty and I can cut it with just the fork. The pancakes are awesome too, the food is great all around. My family loves it there and we try and go as often as we can. Well with the trip and the wait.
