Fast service, yummy filing food , this place has a cool vibe to it perfect for after shopping at Walmart (: we got the toro ramen with blend broth and wavy noodles
Best ramen restaurant I've tried in SLC. Great tasting broth, ample portions, reasonable prices. The karaage chicken is authentically fried and super tasty. Staff is super friendly too! Will definitely revisit~
This ramen shop is different from other traditional ramen shops, more like Korean ramen style. We were greeted upon entering and leaving.
I really like the presentation of the menu, very simple and full of pictures of the dishes. The interior design is very simple and bright. Tables and chairs are clean and shiny. The staff is very polite, patient and attentive.
tonkotsu broth is my go to choice whenever i walk into a ramen shop, the tonkotsu broth is okay but not excellent, lacks a bit of pork flavor, neither bland nor salty. You can choose your own ramen broth along with side dishes or customize to your liking. The Short ribs are a bit tough, tasteless, marinated soft boiled eggs are delicious and have a strong taste soy sauce and sweetness. The fatty char siu was seared to create a smoky smell, very tender. The silky pork buns was spongy and soft packed with crispy lettuce and poached pork belly.
Sushi is probably better than ramen, each piece of sushi has its own unique taste. Try them all and you'll know. Will come back to try the blend.
Great little gem for ramen!
We ordered shrimp tempura and octopus pancake for appetizer, 4 different ramen, and green tea and mango cheesecake for dessert.
Everything was delicious and love the tonkutsu broth. Cheescake was light and just the right sweetness.
I’m leaving a review for the new BLUFFDALE location.
This is the first restaurant that opened in my neighborhood, and I wanted to give it a try since I love Japanese food and grew up eating it. The staff there were very nice. I had a good conversation with one of the employees there. I appreciated that everyone that worked there were Asian - not necessarily Japanese, but had years of experience working at a Japanese restaurant.
The food is definitely on the above average/ pricey side especially for a bowl of ramen, but the flavors were there.
I ordered the Takoyaki for an appetizer to see if they’d do it right, and the flavor was yummy but there weren’t big pieces of octopus in each ball (one had a very tiny piece) and they were missing the seaweed and bonito flakes on top.
I ordered 2 rolls - the caterpillar and Spicy Salmon roll. Caterpillar had great eel flavor, and the spicy salmon roll had more salmon and avocado/ cucumber than I expected, which was great!
I ordered their to tonkotsu ramen, and the broth was delicious; not too salty and had a lot of depth to it. Portion size was average. I always feel like ramen places in Utah really skimp on the noodles and meat compared to other restaurants I’ve been to outside of the US.
Would I eat here again? Yes. I am looking forward to trying other rolls and ramen flavors. They are just on the pricey side (over 10$ per roll and $13 and up for ramen) , so Toro Ramen would definitely be a quarterly visit.
