We're new to Utah and this was the 1st place we tried after moving in.
The food was some of the best mexican i've had. My husband got the large combination platter and i got the beef enchilladas. The portions are generous!
Service was terrific and food came out very quickly and piping hot.
We will definately be back!
This was the first time visiting Maria’s for a quick bite out. We are both huge fans of Mexican food and have had a hard time finding good quality, consistent Mexican food in the South Salt Lake area. A friend had recommended this, so we tried it tonight, and were very happy with our choice. My wife got the small combination platter with the green chili burrito, cheese, enchilada, and beef taco. All were excellent and a very large portion. I got the shredded beef burrito, smothered with melted cheese, and it was more than I could eat and had to take some home. I think we found our new go to restaurant for Mexican food that is close to our house and will definitely be back.
My wife and I went here after a recommendation. I got the carne asada plate, because it was the special, and my wife got the steak and chicken fajitas. Overall my food was very bland. It could have used some seasoning. Also the steak was incredibly chewy. I couldn't bite through it. I had to cut it into small bites before putting it in the tortilla. The tortillas, however, are awesome. They are the familiar thick tortillas you find at local places like La Frontera or La puente. With that in mind they do have smothered burritos, which I probably should have had instead. My wife's fajitas were also bland and way over cooked and dry. We didn't even bother taking the leftovers. Also the rice is as basic as Mexican rice gets and the beans were very bland. Pretty much everything needed seasoning. The highlight was the service was great and the location is pretty nice. I may be willing to go back to try the mole or smothered burritos, but probably won't.
This is one of our favorite restaurants and our server, Dayana, was friendly and had a smile that my wife and I really appreciated and is rare to see nowadays.
We would highly recommend the cheese enchiladas as well as the Suizas, and this place we would recommend to anyone.
One week later follow-up visit. Food was consistent and delicious. We were seated quickly and our food was served within 10 minutes... Just as we finished our chips and salsa, and Vane our server was awesome!
For me this was the same average Mexican food experience I find most places like this. Every entre drowning in flavorless rice and beans. Everything was just okay... the breading on my Chile Relleno tasted freezer burned. My husband wanted two smothered burritos and the waiter said that was too big of a meal for him...and he could've easily eaten two and was disappointed. The chips and salsa that were included was the best part. Sadly the $7.99 churros were a sad ending-barely covered in cinnamon sugar and didn't taste fresh. We won't be back.
