We ordered 2 tasty freshly made to order daily specials:1) braised beef broccoli white rice bowl 2) roast pork broccoli white rice bowl. We also ordered on the regular menu: warm sesame noodles (in a mild peanut butter sauce). Comfortable casual sit down with nice mellow music.
Prompt and courteous service. Great spot to dine alone as they have a nice counter that overlooks a pretty part of St Paul street. Very affordable! Veggie dumplings were cooked well with nice texture and flavor- 5 stars here. However, our main dishes were uninspiring. Beef with broccoli and rice was bland. Peanut noodles were either overcooked or poor quality, and came out mushy.
The dan dan noodles and cappuccino slushy were absolutely delicious. Slushy is not too sweet and silky smooth. Dan Dan has great spice and flavors. Very much looking forward to trying more items on the menu.
If you have not yet been to Magic Chopstick at the bottom of St. Paul Street, you have got to try their beef Lanzhou noodle soup and beef tendons in chili oil. OMG the hot broth outside in the cold is amazing. They have indoor seating of course but I wanted to eat hot soup outside and the weather is perfect. The broth is so full of flavor and warms the soul. The beef is so tender. The noodles are so soft. The beef tendons in the chili sauce is also amazing. It's got a little bit of kick to it. As someone who is weak to spicy food this is the perfect level for me. The owner did bring out a jar of chili oil in case I needed it, but I am not the kind of Asian who can tolerate slice well so I i am enjoying it as is. They also have bubble tea which is delicious. They also have soup dumplings which I will definitely get next time.
Magic Chopsticks is a great little restaurant with a lot of potential. I got the handmade noodles and the passion fruit tea.
I wish there were sauces or flavors to add to the soup like at a Pho place, because it was a little bland. I found it a bit odd that my drink came after my food, but there’s worse things I suppose. Will definitely be coming back to try again! My friend loved the seafood boil!
