You got to try the pork chops.... Lovely place to have a good meal. A family own and run place with home touch.
The food is absolutely top notch. I believe it is the best tasting food we have eaten in VT and we have been skiing here for at least a couple of decades
Best meal EVER!! Have been eating here for 16 yrs now a bad meal. Best owners and staff any were. Highly recommended.
We a party of three made reservations here for Thanksgiving(2018). First the 45 minute drive up the Connecticut River valley from Keene, NH was delightful. The restaurant was a good looking 200 yr. old home and well kept up. The parking was convenient and ample. Opening the front door was exactly what I expected, warm ambiance not pretentious or stuffy. We sat in the small bar area while our table was reset. I could see myself already being a regular. We were soon seated. No fussy menu, a buffet just like at home and prix fixe at a very reasonable $38! Turkey of course and the typical sides all delicious, a seafood dish that one at our table said was very delicious. We ate until we were stuffed in T'day tradition each of us going back for seconds. The mushroom soup was a very nice unexpected side. We were helped to choose a nice wine to accompany our meal which wasn't expensive either. The staff were attentive and friendly without being always in our face. The busboy deserves a raise! He was everywhere making sure everything was replenished and making sure diners had everything they wanted. Then the desserts.. oh my! Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Cheesecake, Carrot Cake and Chocolate Cupcakes. Everything we tried tasted and looked homemade and was also almost too decadent. We all decided that this was a very good call! Our first time but probably not our last.
When I take a trip to Vermont I always love to stop here for dinner. I got to know the family that runs the tavern, so it is a joy seeing my friends, catching up with friendly conversation and enjoying great food. It is always a treat.
