Island House Restaurant & Marina

This was a solid dining experience right on the water. My family and I were on the way back from the OBX and looking for a place to eat a late lunch. The restaurant is spacious and clean and the food was quite tasty. My soft shell crab sandwich (it was a special) was cooked perfectly and delicious. We will definitely be back the next time we pass through.

I can’t say enough about this little gem!!! I would highly recommend this restaurant for the food, service and staff! I have a severe gluten allergy and the hostess was so helpful in actually offering to read off the menu over the phone the gluten free options. There aren’t very many restaurants that would offer that. Then to top that off Barbara our waitress was incredible! She was very kind and made our experience wonderful! ????
We had just left Chincoteague after a horrible situation with Dons Seafood Restaurant. Honestly deciding to leave there and drive here was the best choice we could have made. Super sweet little town and the people, food and restaurants match!!! ????

Well this place had been recommended by some friends, so while in Virginia we decided to give it a go.
We reserved a table on line and requested a window seat, where it asked for “special requests”
On arrival we were told we did not get a window seat We were seated elsewhere and our server came and we told her we had requested a window seat and there was one free, she said “you can jump across there, and I’ll go let them know” so we moved to the window seat.
She then came back and said because we had booked on line we didn’t get the window seat as someone had Reserved by phone. So we were asked to go back to our original table. How embarrassing, and we now felt like second class citizens.

The food was very very good, crab cake exceptional, wonderful fries and the wife’s steak was very nice.

We then got the check, why do some people get chocolates with theirs and we did not?

Would I come back?

For the food yes, but did not enjoy feeling second class.
Why couldn’t someone phone us and let us know, our phone number was on the online reservation.

Food was excellent! Crab dip was out of this world. Crab cakes were big and delicious. The crab bisque soup was awesome. The atmosphere was sweet. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed the sun setting. Noah r waiter was great!

A beautiful view from the large windows overlooking the water. You can eat in our outside . We chose inside for the air conditioning but the view was exceptional. The hot crab dip appetizer was so delicious if the rest of the meal arrived half as good I would be coming back. My hubby ordered the flounder. Fresh not frozen and cooked to perfection. I ordered surf and turf. Steak and scallops. I ordered beef just in case the scallops were not like I like them Sadly I've been to many s restaurant where they were chewy or mushy. Let me tell you that backup plan went South fast,as that steak sat while I devoured those perfect scallops. Yes, I will be going back.
