This place has true quality and care! The calamari is the best I've ever had, definitely fresh & hand breaded with a homemade marinara. The stuffed mushroom caps had a very generous amount of crab and not a bunch of mystery-filler, greatly appreciated. The white wine mussels were cooked perfectly and the of course we soaked up as much sauce as we could with the fresh out of the oven baguette. Wine selections were excellent. Our service was incredibly friendly and the visit from Mama Stella, owner, was the cherry on top. Will definitely be putting Carmello's on the top of my list for regular visits. Oh and leave room for the cheesecake!

This is seriously the best food I have ever had in Charlottesville, maybe anywhere. I would recommend this place to anyone.

The calamari is ridiculous in how good it is, and the only thing that was better then the meal was the service provided by the staff and their owner Stella.

Food and service was amazing! I think this is our new “go to” local place. Ambiance was good, nice background music. Perfect evening!

We are from out of town and luckily stumbled onto this restaurant. It was 10 minutes to 2:00 and we went in and asked if they were still serving. “Yes, yes, come in!” First, the bread was warm and wonderful! I am a bread person and picky about the quality and taste. I had the chicken parm which was excellent! Too much to finish (especially after the bread). I never take leftovers home from a restaurant. I don’t like reheated food. This was one of the very rare times I did, however. And it was good reheated. I had to try the Limoncello cake. Melt in your mouth! They make their own sauce, pasta, mozzarella, bread and dessert. If I could give more that 5 ⭐️, I would. My mouth is watering now just thinking about that meal.

Enjoyed an early Mother's day dinner here. Food was superb, the seafood was fresh and delicious. I particularly liked the small, cozy atmosphere. I was there on a Saturday night and reservation was made. Plan to visit again.
