Caphe Banh Mi

Honestly I'm not sure how this place deserves more than three stars and I'm being absolutely generous with three stars because their food was actually pretty good (despite the small portion on every dish I ordered). I tell you - this place is very small and packed with small tables, and most importantly, the servers are unkind (to say they are rude would be an overstatement). Perhaps that's because the place is too small to allow more than a couple of servers walking around in between tables, which inevitably makes them always busy on their feet, but I find that no excuse to maintain smile when talking to customers. Service was very minimal and the server(s) was hard to get a hold of. My dining experience today was pretty unforgettable and I don't mean that in a good way. It's safe to assume I will never return to this restaurant.

I must say... I've had a lot of Banh Mi's in my lifetime. However, this is the best I've ever had. I ordered the cold cut Banh Mi, add fried eggs, and Maggie sauce which adds umami (savory taste).

Bread was perfectly toasted. The amount of meat was surplus, and eggs just make everything better.

I didn't take picture because I devoured it before remembering to take a photo.

This place was really crowded when I went. After eating I understood why. The food is fantastic. It is a pretty small venue though, you will be close to others. I order the vegetable pho and it was excellent.

Visited Old Town while on business.
Had a great bowl of Pho for a good price.

Pros:
1. Simple menu
2. Quick service
3. Great food
4. Good price
5. Variety of pepper sauce options
6. Busy for a weekday (good sign for restaurant)

Cons:
1. Crowded (but a good sign)
2. Can't split bill (not a big deal, but be aware)
3. Small table size for groups (may not be a good choice for groups of 6 or more)

I would recommend if you are in Old Town Alexandria and hanker for some solid Vietnamese food.

A small not too fancy yet excellent food , a must go to if you are looking for some good food.
Food was nicely served with options of chop sticks and silverware.
Tried the bubble tea , its a sweet drink will calm you down for sure.

Few things which make this nice is meal for one is around 12-14$ and the food was really nicely cooked.
Try the spring rolls and chicken with rice noodle.
