Fantastic menu selection, friendly and courteous staff, huge selection of beverages, beers and wines. Only downside is it’s grab and go since there’s only two 2-top tables just outside the shop. Would love to see more tables and chairs.

Sandwiches were very tasty. Lots of options. Ask for kids options (pbj, grilled cheese, etc.).
Small grocery with picnic items. Lots of wine, beer, single serve alcoholic beverages. Cheese, crackers, etc. Perfect stop for food on the waterfront.
Great service from someone who appeared to be the owner. Stools for limited seating at the window. Very pleasant. Not busy at 12:40p Saturday July 15.

Such an awesome addition to Old Town Alexandria’s waterfront. We have been needing something like this. Union Sandwich has fresh made-to-order sandwiches & salads, unique selection of snacks and even an impressive assortment of beer & wine available. An elevated deli market creatively designed. Highly recommend the Italian with hot peppers, the classic Potomac club or whatever special of the day is. Great staff, great sandwiches.

This is a great place to get a sandwich right off the Alexandria waterfront.
My group was walking from Jone’s Park to the south along the waterfront and decided to get a meal. There are many choices for food in the Alexandria city proper and a few right along the water. As you can tell from it’s name, this is a sandwich shop in the corridor of a larger building. It has windows along both sides of the store making it very light and bright inside the store. Seating is limited with only a small bar with about 4 seats at the back. We chose to sit by the public tables near waterfront park. You order at the counter closest to the door. The menu is located on the back wall behind the counter and is a set of sandwiches ranging in price from about $11 to $13. I got the Roast beef and Blue sandwich. The food was prepared as we waited and was ready within about 10 minutes. It was one of the best sandwiches I have had with good bread, excellent roast beef and real crumbles. The store was clean. The staff was nice and it was a pleasant experience. Overall, I plan to visit here again to try more of their sandwiches. I hope you will too.

This place just opened up near my work and I decided to try it out for the first time, had toasted 1919 Italian sandwich and it was delicious! I loved the sweet, slightly spicy peppers, red onion, lettuce with the melted provolone cheese and savory Italian meats on toasted rustic bread. A nice and balanced meal. It was a great, quick and respectful experience! I highly recommend (which I did to my friend heh) and affordable too! Definitely check it out when you're done browsing the Torpedo factory!

Update: I ordered the Riverside Picnic sandwich which is my newest favorite!
