Moose's By The Creek

In the area and wanted to try some local breakfast food so tried this top rated place. Based on the name it may be "by a creek" but you won't see it anywhere from the restaurant. It is across from an industrial lot and nothing to write home about from the outside. Perfectly safe but just nothing to want to sit outside for or try to get a window (not sure if they even have one). Once inside it is very fun/ kitschy decorated with stuffed animal paraphernalia etc, they are definitely having a lot of fun with it. Very friendly and nice folks meet you right at the door and quickly get you to a seat, and then they quickly take your drink order. Service is quick and everyone is friendly. Food prices are very reasonable and in-line with the quantity/ quality you get. This isn't a fancy place at all (ex. hard plastic school cafeteria style plates) but they are quick and I felt I got fair value for the money. The food was OK - eggs and bacon totally fine, coffee good, the breakfast potatoes were not crispy at all (dare say soggy), and the buttermilk biscuit was not buttery and definitely reheated. The place has a few different rooms and the cashier is in one of them where you pay yourself on the way out. Overall, I really liked the local flavor and the people, but I would be willing to pay a little more somewhere else for a better view and a little higher quality food.

This place is awesome. We stopped in on our way back from Wintergreen to celebrate 3 birthdays. The service was great and the food was delicious. We even got a new aunt while we were here, although Aunt Amy and Uncle Lance haven't set a date yet, I'm sure they will soon! We cant wait to come back on a trip through to Wintergreen to celebrate more birthdays! If you're local, or if you aren't, it's worth the stop!

So I am extremely new to the area and this place was recommended to me by a few co workers. At first I was a little taken aback by the location. Well let me tell you did I ever learn yet again “Don’t judge a book by it cover (location in this case)”!!!! WOW what a diamond in the ruff! Had the honor of meeting Moose! Very kind and welcoming! This place is very simple yet very clean. The staff all were friendly and prompt with good food and GREAT fresh coffee! I will become a regular and highly recommend you do as well. Plenty of seating and parking as well as welcoming faces!! Charlottesville definitely needs to take a lesson from this place!! Need more like it!

This is a funky, down home diner with good food, good service and moose kitsch galore. The parking lot looked warehouse, but it was full of cars so we decided to try it. It was a fun dining experience and the staff was super nice.

This place is a friendly, outgoing place with great, down home food! The greater is full of spunk, sass and keeps you wanting more!! You are greeted when you arrive, the wait is minimal for a table and the service is terrific. Get your picture taken by the moose head or by the antlers. Our first trip today, but we will be back for the food, fun and new friends! This place is definitely a restaurant to put on your list.
