I eat here whenever I get the chance. Every vegetarian option is amazing, but my personal favorite is the jerk tofu. One order is often enough for two meals for me, but the plantains should be enjoyed while they're still hot.

Holy Wow--Wooooow. If we weren't in the middle of a pandemic, I would've gone back inside to hug the chef. My husband and I agreed this was the best new place (new to us) that we've tried in a while. We got the jerk chicken platter and the pork platter. Jerk chicken was so tender with some cinnamon undertones, pork was possibly the most tender and juicy pork I've ever had in my life. Flavors were complex and so delicious. Fried plantains were our favorite we've ever had, and the kale salad was so yummy while still having a delicate flavor. We're from out of town and we both agreed that we will revisit Pearl Island every time we come back to Charlottesville.

Pearl Island packs a punch with their flavors. Sour and spicy - it's pure magic. Also, Pearl is a true community business. I've seen them as a sponsor of several events in the city and they have a "pay it forward" program to give someone a meal in need. Keep being awesome!
