Great new place in Cville! Excellent variety of small plates, local veggies and goodies, excellent flavors, great cocktails. Will be going back!
First time 09.26.20 for dinner. We ordered take out and it was fantastic. Pickled shrimp Johnny cake, the carrot dish, potatoe side, and bread w/ house compound butter were all loaded with flavor and perfectly cooked. But the Indian inspired split pea soup stole the show. One of the better things I've ate this year, for sure.
You could tell the majority of the food was actually sourced from small farms by the inconsistency (in a good way) of the shape and size of the veg. And to have a simple grilled chicken and seasonal fruit option for our kid to munch on was a treat.
We'll be back.
Three of us decided to check this place out recently on a rainy night. The covered outdoor seating was very welcoming with ambient lighting and a bar in the middle. The friendly, personable staff took great care of us. We were originally going to just have a beer or two but after seeing all the creative drink and food options on the menu, we had to try both. I was pleasantly surprised by all the vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. Two of us ordered four tapas style dishes to share - green beans, grilled sourdough, chilled shrimp and a brussels sprouts, mushroom and grits combo - that were all delicious. Our friend had the salmon sandwich which he couldn't stop raving about. I really enjoyed the patio punch and elderberry mead drinks. They were both very refreshing and not overly sweet. They also have some great original gin cocktails and we enjoyed our server telling us about the origin of each brand. The piece de resistance was the blackberry cake. We were all in heaven, especially when eating it with the house-made honey whip cream that comes with it on the side. We look forward to going back!
my first visit was on the patio and well recommended cocktails and a wonderful roast beef sammy to go will definitely go back
Such a wonderful addition to Charlottesville! The staff were incredibly accommodating and our meal was fantastic. Particular highlights were the pickled nectarines and the brussels with grits. Plenty of vegetarian options, and excellent wine list.
