    was it fortune? could i even tell? i snubbed out my mayo cigarette on the ashtray and looked across the restaurant. the pianoman was playing something sadly familiar, while crooning into a tall glass of Gatorade. i made my way across the smokey room and went to the line. the sandwich artist's eyes shot through me and i knew they knew, i was there for one thing, a tube of vegetables and meat wrapped in bread

    Good, normally ran by a young attentive crew, not all subways are the same. This is one of the better ones.
