Yard House

This is always a great place we go before a late night movie! We normally only ever snack on appetizers. They have a great menu and friendly staff.

Great menu. We got a huge corner booth which made it easy for us with two small children. Nice bathrooms for families, too.

Their claim to fame is the yard glass full of beer, which is a long (1 yard long) narrow glass with a small ball at the bottom that widens out at the top like a heraldry trumpet. The full yard is supposedly illegal in Virginia, so the Springfield location only has half-yards, which are more practical anyway. Higher-proof beers can only be had in smaller glasses, not the half-yards. (Everything can be had in smaller glasses for those who prefer. The half-yard is not mandatory for anything. They even have the small glasses available for flights or tasters.) They have an excellent selection of Draft beers as well as a pretty good assortment of sandwiches, wings, pizzas, gourmet tacos, and entrees. Food is fairly high quality with fairly high prices to match. I recommend the Allagash James Bean beer for those who like caramel and coffee and aren't afraid of high alcohol content. Some of the Oktoberfest food specials are also very good here.

Great food and the drinks are okay too. The best value is during the happy hour where a family sized chicken nachos are only $7. The only thing is our waiter was slow this time around, we waited about 30 minutes for him to come back for us to pay.

I visited here for my brother in law's bday dinner. We totally loved it!!! The variety of beer is dizzying!!! I found 3 or 4 favorites there. Our servers were great at making sure your different samples were in order. The steak and shrimp is simply delicious. I'll definitely be going back.
