Good food, but not a fine dining experience. Bati is tucked inside a crowded and dirty shopping center, where it's hard to find parking and there's trash all over the ground.
When I first got there, there were no customers, not a single table. I can see why. The service - or lack thereof. It took over 25 minutes to get food and the waitress couldn't crack a smile. I asked her what the injera was made of and she said she didn't know in a pissed off way.
While the service deserves only one star, the food deserves 5 stars. I ordered the veggie combo and enjoyed all of the lentils, beans, shiro, beets, cabbage, gomen. A little greasy, but delicious! The injera was nice and soft with a decent portion size.
At the end of the meal, I went to wash my hands and the bathroom smelled worse than a porta potty - it was disgusting! I held off on using the toilet, couldn't count the number of stains on that toilet seat.
Overall, I enjoyed the food just not the atmosphere. Get take-out.
"Excellent place to eat a great meal but be prepared to pay for quality."
This is by far my all around favorite Ethiopian restaurant in the area. I was happy to see so many Ethiopian folks the first time I went there and it was a good indication of the food. The vegetarian sampler is always my favorite and all the items on it here are great. They also have the best meat dishes of anywhere I've tried. Some places I won't order it again and I'm a meat lover.
This place as the authentic Ethiopian food. And well if you haven't been into Ethiopian yet, this is the perfect place to get started.
The decor, the music is great if you expect to relax eat and get refreshed.
