I would never expect a place from the food court to be this good, so I was very surprised when I finally tried Little Chef a few years ago.
My go to place was always Sarku because the food was tasty and the portions were huge. However, after coming back to Sarku after not eating it all summer, I felt like the taste was not the same.
I tried little chef and I loved it. My favorite entree is the tofu. It's firm but not chewy, nicely seasoned, and you don't taste the tofu at all. 5 stars.
So the food is not made to order, it's similar to Panda Express in that the food sits in trays behind the counter, buffet style. However, on several occasions I have come to pickup food in the late afternoon and the staff insisted on making me a fresh portion. I honestly have never had an issue with their food.
You can taste the difference in quality when you compare it to places like Panda where the meat is mostly breading, or the sauces are overwhelmingly sweet/salty. At Little Chef there is a good balance of flavor. I can taste the spices, ginger, soy, garlic. At other places I feel like all I get is salt and sugar. The veggies here have always tasted fresh and crisp. Other places the veggies taste oily, soggy, and sad lol.
The staff are all knowledgeable about food allergies, and very helpful at accommodating special orders. The prices are the same for a typical food court meal, but I do admit that it's nice to be able to order three different proteins for $10. The portions are large. I'm a big guy but I can't finish this in one sitting.
I highly recommend Little Chef
They are located between Grill Kabob and Panda Express.
