Ever since I lived in California, 99 ranch market was a go to place there. Now, there are variations and depending on their management, there are great food court restaurants and not so much. Now mian pull noode place I think it is good but I can't say great. Their noodle texture and consistency I love it two thumbs up for that. I tried their combination, pork stew burger, and my wife had the flank one. First of all stew burger was Uber dry and very salty. Soup itself both were very salty. For the price that you pay at food court, the contents were very shallow. Now, if you pay the same amount at some other restaurants, then I believe you usually get more. So overall experience, if you don't mind paying more to get little contents for noodles then this is the place. I honestly won't try it again.
Finally, a pulled noodle shop that actually taste like my childhood! I posted a picture of the version of noodle that I have got and my score for this place judging purely on the food itself. For people that never had this style of noodle before, this is a meaty savory soup similar to what you would get with a bowl of Pho, with fresh hand pulled noodle that has nice chewy/doughy texture. I would always recommend the spicy broth, don't worry it is not spicy at all!
Pros:
-Fresh hand pulled noodle, texture is great since its pulled right at the store front!
-Good broth with nice savory meaty flavor, it might look clear but it has a strong flavor. Note that it has a fairly strong cilantro taste, for people who doesn't like cilantro consider asking to be removed.
-Actually good meat. The cuts of meat are nicely braised with good flavor.. I recommend getting the flank beef for more tender cuts.
Cons:
-Dine in location can be kind of awkward with people walking by you and limited table choices since its located inside the grocery store.
-Price is relatively high but fair.
-Slow service due to limited staffing at the time of this review, might improve more when they hire more people later on.
Overall rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Great place to get your Taiwanese style hand pulled noodle, if you can look pass the dine in limitations and somewhat long wait time.
Decent pulled noodle spot for Fairfax, located in the newly opened 99 Ranch Market. There's numerous choices to go around of beef noodle soups, dry beef noodles, seafood noodle soup, pork noodle soups, duck noodle soup. You can select spicy or mild for all. There are choices for thick, thin, and hand pulled noodles. Of course the last choice is the best! The soups are clear and quite delicious. Only downside is the quantity isn't that fulfilling (bowl is only 2/3 full), for the price is pretty staggering.
Great tasting!
