Peter Chang

Excellent Szechuan food! We have been to this location and two of Peter Chang’s restaurants in Richmond. They are all great. The selection is good and the food is worth coming back for time and again. It is our favorite Chinese restaurant in Virginia. The fried eggplant, lamb, and any of the fish dishes are great. Go check it out.

Actual authentic Chinese food in Fredericksburg! For those looking for the standard overly-sweet, under-flavored Americanized "Chinese" food you get everywhere else, Peter Chang's will come as a pleasant surprise.
My first visit there, I had the braised seafood with spicy bean sauce in a clay pot. I enjoyed the clay pot concept so much that I had the duck in a stone pot the next time. Both were a terrific change from the same old General Tsao's chicken.

Service was very friendly. We explained that we were in a rush because we had a competition to go to. They understood, and they immediately sent a waitress over. Food was good.

Prices are decent and the place has a nice setting. The food wasn't really hot when ordered and there wasn't enough rice to accompany the very sweet golden mountain chicken I ordered. The combination fried rice was very good. The server never offered or gave a refill of my drink, either, despite checking to see if the food was good and if I was okay. The hostess was rather rude and her iPhone constantly rang and she could be seen running to answer it repeatedly.

Lunch of shredded pork and smoked tofu. The dish was very salty and could not taste any smoke. The pork dumplings had a nice sear and were very good. Very good. Waiter was extremely friendly and answered questions.
