Smitty's Better Burger

This place is awesome and very open. I couldn't believe how gracious the existing staff were. They brought me this tangible burger that entered my stomach post-chewing. The other customers that were definitely there were all conversing with each other about how full the restaurant was. I would 100% recommend coming here, if not just to enjoy the building. Bring a friend.

This was my second visit in three months. The first visit I had the better burger. It was great. I brought 5 people to try it this time. They all got the burgers and agreed with my initial assessment. I ordered the 1/2 fried chicken plate. The best chicken I have ever had!!! That is saying something from a Mississippi boy who has lived in the south for 48 years! Note. Call ahead or be prepared to wait 20 min for the chicken as it is cooked to ordered.

The burger was tasty and juicy. The fried onions added flavor to my meat. I decided to get the Smitty's Better sauce on the side and it complimented my burger as well. The sweet potato fries was good as well, but there's really nothing special about it.

I would think of this place the next time I am around Hampton. I would definitely come back when I am in the area.

Temporarily closed due to fire but when open, the best place in Hampton Roads to get food. Hot dog, twirly dog, grilled cheese, BLT, everything is great. Sometimes, carhops are a little moody but great place. Can't wait for them to reopen.

I am going to give it 5 stars, because it reminds me of a special in Kenosha WI, Big Star! I can't wait to have my very first burger when they open back! I am looking forward to tasting it Virginia style...this places are nostalgic and must be preserved always.
