I had high hopes since much closer than any other Jamaican restaurant, but, not 5 stars. Had ordered rice and cabbage but seems I was given double rice instead. Rice had a nice spice to it. Chicken was dry and less flavorful than others in Richmond. It's not the worst but was ok.
Also as a note, the mini is super small. I think I should have done it though (this is the small) because this was really just to test this restaurant to see if we would order more often.
I think the coco bread would have been better wrapped in foil. This wrap didn't help it stay soft.
Amazing Jamaican spot, by far the best I've had in Richmond. The staff are sweet and the place is clean and open.
The spices on the jerk chicken are phenomenal. Its spicy, smokey, charred, simply authentic.
The oxtail was also great: tender and flavorful. However I also found to be a little dry due to lack sauce or gravy from the stew.
The rice & peas and cabbage were cooked perfectly, very aromatic and fresh.
This is a nice addition to Short Pump and I will be visiting frequently.
I took a trip to Jamaica a while ago and fell in love with the culture, all the way down to the food! I’ve been trying to find an authentic Jamaican restaurant since and this place was just absolutely amazing! The daughter who rung me up was beyond sweet and the food was just absolutely delicious! This is definitely my go to place and cannot wait to try more on the menu!
Such a nice addition to Short Pump! I have now taken out twice and both of my experiences have been outstanding! But the food was definitely authentic and wonderful. Both the oxtail and curry goat were amazing. Also dinners came with rice and peas, a side of cabbage that were also delicious. If you like Jamaican food you will not be disappointed.
So my hubby and I decided to try this new Jamaican restaurant everyone is raving about when I tell you their food is good! Their food Is good!!!! not to mention great customer service. I had the oxtail and my husband had the curry chicken me being a Chef I have to say by far the best Jamaican food hands down in Richmond and I would recommend them to anyone am so glad they’re now in short pump now we don’t have to make that long trip anymore.
