Hands down the best brisket I have ever had. Friendly staff and decor takes you into the simpler times. Potatoes and green beans were equally impressive and made to perfection.

Great barbecue. Best I've had since I was in Texas two years ago. Courtney is pretty hot.

Hammerdown BBQ is off the meat rack!!!! You will be absolutely blown away by the deliciousness. Our son dropped some brisket on the floor and I dropped down to my knees to pick it up, this food is simply too good to be wasted. I signed up for ancestry DNA just so I could find my great great grandmother in Italy and slap her this BBQ is so good. Forget meat sweats, this food will bring you to a full blown meat euphoria. You will feel things that you've never felt before. Hammerdown is the Studio 54 of BBQ joints. Make sure you get there as early as possible as their supply runs out quickly. At one point, I reached out for my brisket and I touched the face of God. If you go, tell them Rocco sent you, you'll get nothing in return but it will make me feel like I've done a great deed for all mankind. One small step for man, one giant leap for BBQ.

Great BBQ! Tender meats and great sides. The owner caught me drooling over his vest array of grills and took some time to share the history of the place and so.e of his smoking secrets!

Be aware that this restaurant closes very early, you may be surprised if you're coming from the suburb area. My friends and I came here at 7:30pm on a saturday and there were no cars in the parking lot when we pulled in. Then we saw the sign that they were closing at 8pm and obviously there was no customers in the restaurants. The staffs were cleaning up. We quickly put in our orders which pretty much consisted of every kind of meat on the menu.

My favorite was definitely the brisket which was smoky, fatty, and tasty. It's probably the best brisket I've had in VA so far. The chicken was also really flavorful, I think this was the group majority's favorite. Though the sausage was disappointing as it was very dry and tough. Side dishes were also not good. One of my friends described the mac n cheese as "Kraft mac n cheese".

I'll definitely be back for the brisket whenever I'm in the area. Not sure if the quality of the sides had to do with the time we got there as they were probably sitting in the warmer for a long time. I hope they will be better when I come back during the day, but the brisket and chicken would be enough to satisfy me.
