Karla's Beach House

Just had a wonderful lunch. Food wonderful and service was EXCELLENT! Kate was my server and was perfect. Years ago I trained wait staff so I know. Unfortunately today is her last. Good luck Kate & I hope Karla finds another as good. Best coffee around... From Norfolk Coffee & Tea. Check them out too.

We finally made the walk to Karla’s for brunch today..it did not disappoint one bit. The food was delicious (although I wish the kids drink was included in their meal). The staff was all very sweet. As a breastfeeding mother, I had a wonderful experience feeding my child while I waited for my own cooked food. I was praised for doing so and being a “new” place and hearing stories of mothers being shamed in public, I was overwhelmed to feel so comfortable. We even had a staff member come out of the back with a grocery bag for the dirty diaper I had just changed, which may seem odd to some, but made me like the place even more. We’ll be recommending Karla’s to all of our family and friends!

Karla's was the perfect breakfast spot for us to grab a bite before hitting the beach. Fairly simple menu but executely nicely, good portions, and very tasty. The best part was the service! Very accommodating. I also loved the self service coffee station for refills!

I loved but my friend had what she considered serious problems with her food. We both agreed the house coffee was great! We had different breakfast meals. She had an omelette with cheddar cheese ( I think) and other meat a vegetables. Her issue was the omelette was over cooked. She described it to the owner as being burnt. I would have described it as well done. She noted that she wanted no under done whites but as is it was unacceptable. The owner sent it back. A few minutes later an omelette returned. My friend checked the omelette carefully. Finally, she opened it and it appeared that they took they turned the omelette inside out. Put the original contents in the new inside and cheese on the outside. Then brought it back. The owner took it off the bill. I agree with my friend that the returned final omelette was the same omelette and the was sneaky. I'm not so certain the first omelette wasn't done properly.
My meal excellent. My only complaint was that I over salted and peppered it BEFORE I tasted it. That's on me!
She says she won't go back... I likely will.

My discovery of the day! Nice people, cute cafe with a nice parking lot in the rear. I ordered the salad trio and unsweetened tea and a side of onion rings, which was a plate full of crunchy yummy onion rings. Took home lots of leftovers. The egg salad, tuna salad and potato salad were pretty basic and heavy on the mayo. They all needed some added zip to be made “Karla’s”, imho. Some herbs, pickled cucumbers or pickled red onions, some acid to cut the mayo. Since it is tomato season, I was hoping for a couple of slices of juicy red, vine ripened tomatoes. Oh well, maybe next time’. I do plan to return and try other menus items. Hope this cute cafe has staying power! Closes at three y’all so go for breakfast or lunch.
