Southern Style Chicken & Waffle

Obviously this is fast food and the atmosphere is fast food so forget that. The waffle is outstanding. Soft and pillowy with a little chew (my husband would like it a little less brown but a little too chewy but he’s nuts so there…) The chicken is like Georgia style real southern style fried chicken … the skin crunches audibly when you bite it. There is breading but it’s not crazy more like KFC than cheap winglets from the B—ffalo WW place. The Mac and cheese was the only miss . I wouldn’t order that again bc it was runny and a bit cold while the chicken— WARNING NOT COMPLAINT — is the definition of piping hot. Nice service staff too. It gets 4 stars for what it is in relation to other fast food chicken joints. Not for being fine dining or something. The sides are a little limited and no salads etc so expect high calorie high fat high carb/ I’m guessing that’s why you are going anyway. And.. NO DIET SODA which was the big negative for my husband.

Very clean place. Food is made to order so you might want to place your order ahead of time. Especially if you're on lunch. The food is hot and fresh. Not too greasy or taste like old grease was used. I had chicken wings and fries. Wings were a nice size and SEASONED!! Absolutely awesome. No sauce or extra seasoning was needed.. A small side of Old bay would have been perfect but not needed. They offered a bit of sweet n sour or may have been mambo sauce. Not bad but the wings stood on their own. Fries were crispy and a nice size portion. Its a little pricey but whats not these days.. Only bad thing is this place is small and will get popular quick. Once that happens I can see the wait being crazy long. The service was great, very friendly.

My wife and kids tried everything on the menu with me. The waffles are perfect. The wings and regular chicken are nice and crispy. The chicken tenders are good but slightly under seasoned. The chicken sandwiches were good. I prefer the spicy, and my wife prefers the regular Nashville chicken sandwich. The Mac and cheese is delicious, and the fries are nice but not crispy enough. The mambo sauce was exceptionally good.

Overall food was pretty good for the price and size. Haven’t tried waffles but from what I have tried definitely going to retry this place again. Good potential to be big competitor for “go to” munchie’s spot. Everything felt fresh and super hot.

Amazing new chicken and waffles spot in Manassas! It's really hard to find joints dedicated to chicken and waffles, but 'Southern Style' totally delivers. The pieces of chicken are big and juicy, the waffles are very spongy and fresh, and the included sauces are epic! I really enjoyed the fresh, hot chicken, and I could see myself preferring the friend chicken here over locations dedicated to chicken. Being a new location, the fry oil is still fresh and everything comes out flavorful and crispy. The waffle was great and for to-go orders they make sure you have ample amounts of syrup and other items needed to enjoy your food. The staff was fast, helpful and really courteous.
