This place is amazing! Anyone who gives it less than 5 stars is crazy. There aren't many soul food places around, and even fewer great ones. It's small, and only take out, but the food was perfect. I went with a group of co-workers, and everyone was completely satisfied. From the moment the door opened, the smell immediately let me know we came to the right place. The interior is tiny and not much to look at, but who cares! The owner was sweet, caring and an amazing cook. She does everything by hand, by herself, so it's not fast, but worth every second of the wait! Every single item was cooked to perfection. She asked if it was or first time there and offered up a tasting of all the sides. It made it almost impossible to choose. I generally hate green beans, and hers were downright delicious, perfectly seasoned and tangy with vinegar. The mac and cheese was absolutely perfect. About the only complaint I can drum up is that she was out of a few of the meats, but that should be expected at a place like this. I really wanted to try the ribs, but she said they weren't ready and recommended several other things. I went with the fish, and wasn't at all disappointed. I have no idea what's in that homemade tarter sauce, but it was unbelievable! I'd go back just for that alone. Then there were the homemade cakes. The double chocolate was maybe the best I've ever had. She through in a piece of the sweet potato pie because she said she really wanted us to try it. Again, I've never once had a piece I can say was better. Every bite was amazing. You know the food is perfect when you finish a full meal with giant portions and a slice of cake and you know that the pie is going to be so good that you can't resist trying it. It was so good that I may just go back tomorrow.
From the dirty south, this is by far the most legit southern food you gonna find around here. I had the fried chicken breast with collard greens and green beans. It was hittin'.
Food was delicious! The little old lady was super friendly and her kitchen was clean!!
Good food served like grand ma made it.
It is a carryout only place but it's good and worth waiting for and cooked to order.
Owned & ran by the most sweet, hardworking lady ever! She runs this place on her own & cooks everything to order, so prepare to wait. Remember, you're waiting on soulfood, not fast food! It's definitely worth the wait. You can call your order in too, but if she's busy she may not answer just call back or go in and order. The fish & mac & cheese are my faves!
