Aura Bar & Grill

Arrived at about 5:30 so I was able to park in front of the restaurant. The wife and I ordered the fried chicken wings with the sweet teriyaki sauce they were very good but my wife wish they would have had six flats and six wings. We also ordered shrimp and grits. That entree was creamy and a little bit of heat spice on the shrimp. And if you want to good stiff drink I recommend the wrecking ball. Our waitress was very helpful and charming, as was the bartender. The music in the venue kept you moving in your seat and it was audible but not overbearing. Overall, a very good experience.

the owner Neil was amazing. we came on a tuesday for our friends birthday and he made it a 10/10 experience. drinks were a TEN, food was great. servers were very vice and attentive, and Neil made sure we were taken care of, definitely come here!!

First thank you to Covey for being a good business owner and trying to make a bad situation good. Now on to the review. We came During Black Restaurant Experience Week for a friend’s birthday brunch. It was 5 of us. 3 of us arrived together and 2 arrived 5 minutes later. We were seated immediately and our waitress took our drink orders. The tables are club tables that are low ( they come to your knees). When our other two friends arrived the waitress took their drink orders and we ordered a hookah and appetizers. We waited for drinks for over 30 minutes. The menu was a little confusing and we found that brunch only included certain appetizers. Then it seemed everything started coming out randomly. Food was coming out with appetizers and one friend never got her drink or hookah. We had to hold our plates in our laps because there was no room for our drinks and plates. I had the oxtails and grits. Grits were a 10/10 for me but the oxtails were tough and under seasoned. Our waitress mixed up a friend’s order with the table next to us and when my friend called her over to ask her if the plate was in fact what she ordered, she laughed and said no. She knew she had mixed up the orders but wouldn’t have said anything if my friend didn’t say anything. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else. Hopefully after some of the kinks are worked out this will be a great place.

I visited Aura on the first day of the Richmond Black Restaurant Experience week. I tried the fried shrimp appetizer w/old bay honey seasoning. They were very very good but unfortunately I had to wait an hour & 6 mins to get them. Tried the spiked lemonade w/Grey goose. I was hoping for some actual lemonade but it was some kind of mixer. Either way for $5 I won't hold it against them. I believe they had just opened a few days ago. & I'm almost certain service was slow b/c staff was short. I only saw 1 waitress & the 2 bartenders appeared to be doing double duty. Since they're new I'm willing to give them another try.

I am so impressed with the quality of the food and drinks. The short amount of time it took to receive it was awesome. Our waitress was sweet and helpful. I will definitely be back.

PS : The owners were very attentive and catered to any needs big or small and were very accommodating :)
