Southern Railway Taphouse

There was a nice selection of regional craft beers available and the food (wings in particular) was really good. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable about the beer selection.

I visited Southern Railway this evening after a work event at a nearby hotel. I was looking for a good tap list and decent food, and this place exceeded my expectations. The draft beers included plenty to appease any snobs who pop in, and the wine list, mixed drinks, and bottled offerings would make anyone else happy. They were juggling a couple of large parties, but I was still tended to with speed and a positive attitude as I sat at the bar. I stopped in as happy hour was winding down, so I ordered the pretzel appetizer (half price!), and it was tasty enough. The beer cheese wasn't conducive to dipping, but I applied it to my pretzel with a knife, and I really enjoy the flavors. I also ordered a shrimp wrap and fries, and they were both good, too. I especially appreciated that they were served piping hot.

All in all, this was a positive experience, and I'll look forward to returning to Southern Railway whenever I'm staying nearby.

Best, largest selection of beers on tap and in bottles that I could easily find in Richmond. Also a large, varied menu. We had a group of 6 and everyone enjoyed their meals. Attentive service and lots going on from broadcast sports to live music, but not overwhelming noisy.

This is a good place. Been here twice with the family and we've enjoyed it both times. Food is good, but it would be nice to add a veggie burger to the menu, maybe throw some tofu on a taco. The game room is excellent with cheap old school games. You can play for 20 minutes on Galaga with 50 cents.

Traveling for work in Richmond and my company hosted a dinner here. Great food and the staff did a wonderful job with our large group. We provided main dish selections ahead of time and it came out in a reasonable time. The drinks were good and apps were half price due to a happy hour special. Waitresses work super hard and treated us well. I’d definitely come back.
