Outstanding barbecue, cooked eastern NC style with a nice peppery finish. It’s always a good sign when you can smell the smoker as soon as you get out of your car. The sweat tea was also well-balanced; sweat but not too sweat. Finally, Cowlings has that nice, authentic family-owned vibe.

I take the long way back from the beach to Richmond every time I go so that I can stop by and pickup the best BBQ sandwiches in Va! I honestly do not even like BBQ enough to have tried it on my own, but once a friend pressured me into giving it a try, I can't NOT stop and pick up several for me and my family.

If you like BBQ, don't miss this place!

Even an hour away from closing, the meat was succulent and fresh. Service was friendly and efficient.

I'll plan future trips to include stopping here to eat.

Barbecue was delicious. My two sides were. Fried cauliflower. The Taste was out of this world ! & French fries. I was with my cousins and another family friend. Someone was so, kind to pay our tab today. What a blessing.
