Rain Restaurant

This was a great place to stop for lunch! The menu had a variety of choices to choose from depending on your preferences. The staff was friendly and courteous and the food was tasty.

I've been here a few times and have loved every entree. The only things consistently not great is the microwaved bread they give you. (This is apparently a thing with several area restaurants) It's noticeable and I don't eat it. Outdoor patio area is a DOG ZONE, which wins the day and my money no matter what. I hope they keep things casual with great food.

Food was top notch. Staff friendly. I got the Plumb Alley burger and highly recommend. It has a special recipe sauce. The atmosphere is very good. Indoor or outdoor seating. Wait staff was great. Full bar with seating. Lunch is between $10-15. Dinner options are considerably more expensive.

We have every intention of someday trying a different restaurant when we travel to Abingdon but Rain keeps pulling us back in. We each started with the butternut squash soup very smooth with just a touch of zing. My wife had the shrimp and grits while I had the prime rib with garlic green beans and roasted potatoes. We were both more than pleased with our selections. To finish we tried a piece if the bananas foster cheese cake ... heavenly!

Reservations recommended particularly if Barter Theater has a play going. We suggest Rain to all our friends and family that drive in for a show.

Great food and staff. After eating at several of the nicest restaurants in town this one outshines the others when you add up pricing, ambiance and quality of chef prepared dishes. Our party had one issue with the porkloin being tough and the owner cut the price and offered desserts to the two in our party this impacted. First class hospitality!
