The food and service was excellent! Nice and clean! The margarita was really good!
The prices were a bit high for what was offered, the service was decent although mostly absent with a language barrier and the food was okay. The menu was not as expected. There were not typical Mexican American choices- it would state "Enchiladas" and then list the combination choices. My order was not what I asked for but it tasted average. The enchilada sauce had a marina base with cilantro and garlic flavoring instead of a more traditional (expected) flavor. In addition the menu showed stock photographs of food that is not available there (sliced avocado for example).
I ordered an enchilada with grilled chicken and guacamole inside. Beans and rice on the side and I was told "Yes." And then received an enchilada with marinara topping, grilled chicken inside. Rice and beans on the side. Pico de gallo, light on the guac also on the side. No idea if I was charged for the requested guac because you aren't given a meal ticket to view charges. My husband ordered a steak and it was fairly dry.
Signs are placed at each booth stating you get 1 refill for chips/salsa or a drink although it is unclear if you get charged for a refill when you ask or charged for your second refill. There is a definite language barrier. The signs are at each booth, glaringly tacky. The decor is very "Mama CoCo" as my toddler stated. Our server was friendly but distant. The restaurant was clean but dark, so was it really clean? We are not entirely sure. The background noise was the conversation around us and HGTV's own- Chip and Joanna. There is not music playing.
It seems family run and in general is not a restaurant designed for the customer but for the family who likely spends a lot of time there. I have never been to a place that turned the bar light on and off only while mixing drinks (especially when there was a customer seated there). I would eat there again but for a simple taco dish and not a date night.
Nice place. Good food. Lots of food!
Service is OK. Food is Good. A good place to hang out in the middle of nowhere.
Great food, Great Service, And Great Prices
