Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers

We love the Newport News location. We decided to go for date night. The food was amazing. Brittney Kirby is one of the best managers there. I have worked with and for Brittney. She sat us down and went over the menu. I know she is the AGM but she takes time to make you feel welcome. I forgot the waitress name but she was good and really helped us have a great time. We will be back soon. It’s very nice and cozy.

This place was decent. I got a personal pizza since I cannot eat dairy and everyone else in my family can. It is nice to be able to eat a dairy free pizza but my pizza was cut into 4 slices and one entire slice had no toppings because there was a bubble in the dough. Being that they specialize in pizza, you would think they would look for and pop the bubbles as the pizza cooks.

My family and I were having a goodbye dinner for one of my daughters as she and her family were being deployed to a different state. All 12 of us had the best time with the different kinds of pizzas, trivia and the staff -especially Mary our server who was thoughtful and attentive. Thank you Mellow Mushroom for a memorable moment in my family's life. We will be back. ????

We went there on July 4th. Totally understand that we had to wait for a table. We got there around 6:20 pm. We had about one hour wait for the table. After being seated we ordered immediately with our waitress who did a great job. We ordered two 10 inch pizzas, one cheese only and one great white no onion, half order of pretzels, four waters and two beers. Drinks and pretzels came with no problem. We waited another hour for two 10 in pizzas. Our waitress explained that they were filling to go orders before dining orders in the kitchen. We did not leave the restaurant until after 8:30 pm. Wish I would have ordered online too. I spoke to someone at front of the restaurant before I left and explained what happened. All she told me was to go orders were an hour and half wait. She didn’t really seem to concerned we waited so long for to small pizzas. I wish they worried about the customers in the building also.

Was back in Colonial Williamsburg this weekend for the festival since November, figured I'd stop by Mellow Mushroom for another visit. Everything was wonderful. Staff was so friendly, food came out fast and fresh- and for a reasonable price too! I actually recognized my old server, as she is now a manager. Hiring within is always a wonderful idea! Ask for Booker when you visit, he is wonderful and took care of my wife and I like we were family. Good eats!!!!
