Pulled pork and pulled chicken were great. Unfortunately the brisket and ribs were on the tough side. Judging by the other reviews this may have been an outlier experience. Some of the sides (fries and hush puppies, namely) should be skipped and go for the more homemade ones (beans are real good). Speed was fast and staff was friendly. Price was a little high but not too crazy. Original 3/5
Edit 7/21: The owner made our not great experience right and we gave Pierce's another shot. Let me say the issues were fixed. The brisket and ribs were so much better. Tender and not too smoky. We tried different sides like the cornbread and the Mac n cheese and found them to be delicious. The smoked chicken was tender and juicy. It was a great experience.
The food was great! Had a little kick to it, so beware if you do not like any spice. Prices are reasonable given portion size. We came at the end of the night and the staff was still great and food was wonderful, which speaks volumes to me. Definitely recommend.
Always a great experience here. The food is great and I love the nostalgic atmosphere. The staff is super friendly and keep the place clean with fresh iced tea in the urns. The crushed ice machine is the bomb! Crushed iced chills a drink perfectly! A great place to go when I visit every summer.
Honestly I was extremely underwhelmed. The whole experience reminded me of a restaurant at a theme park. Every order is put in a bag to-go, which seems very wasteful. Despite the fact your order seems ready to go, you have to go get your own napkins and utensils since they are not in the bag. But I hope you don't want water to-go, since the lids don't fit the water cups. The ribs were just ok. They looked smoked but didn't have a lot of flavor. Also they were really small...baby pigs? There was a decent amount of the Ore-Ida fries but they were not salted at all. The collard greens were good. But I could have spent $32 better elsewhere. Yeah. The longer I think about it the more annoyed I get. And I'm still hungry.
On our stop, Pierce's got really busy really quickly, with a lot of locals around. The good was excellent, and the sauce was a highlight. The hot sauce on the table especially complements the barbecue sauce on the sandwiches, and you can get as much spare sauce as you need on the side for your fries and extra for your sandwich. I liked the sauce well enough that I got an extra bottle to take home!
The counter staff was very friendly, and service was quick.
