Callen's Restaurant and Co

Very busy Saturday evening, sat right away at the bars for 2. Delicious food, a bit expensive! Great young, attentive staff. Penn cove mussells were fresh with tomatoes and onions with a refreshing sauce, not drenched in garlic and butter like all of the other restaurants do.

This restaurant is outstanding for many reasons: house made dressings, house smoked duck breast, true cod fish and chips to name a few. The service is not atypical compared to the rest of the island, and the proximity to the ferry brings in tourists as well as locals. Until they expand to the other half of the building (which is the second year phase of the owners' plan), the dining room is small and full more often than not. What I find most interesting about Callen's is their understated approach to a very progressive and important mission: Slow Foods that are locally sourced and made from scratch. In a time where carbon footprint and cancer awareness is in every consumer's decision, this restaurant offers tasty solutions to every patron that passes through a national historic reserve known as Ebey's reserve. The prices are reasonable and for 20 dollars it is worth giving a try. Gluten free items are identified on the menu and vegetarian options are available. Just ask the servers, and look for the silver starfish to find the employees who have been there from the start. Two of them are Daughters of the owners.

I give this place a 5. The service and quality of there food is was well worth the price. Its what I expect from a high end restaurant. I even picked up a gift cert. for my parents anniversary. Well done, I'll be back

This place is amazing! Great service, clean, friendly! The food is fantastic! The best pancakes we have ever had. Try the smashed potatoes they are delish! Great coffee! We loved it so much we ate there 2 times over our weekend visit! Yes it's that good!

Everything is cool about this place! Make sure you read the "about us" the on the menu. The history and the community are very cool! They play vinyl records for their music. AND check out the fish tank...it had baby starfish and snails in it when we were there.

Visited today for lunch with a couple of friends and had a great time. The food was delicious, fresh and tasty. Lovely warm atmosphere and good service. We will definitely be back to try the breakfast and dinner menu’s. Thank you! A hidden gem on the island.
