(January 19, 2020, 11:52 pm)I found this gem through a friend...so glad she shared. I usually sit at the long bar counter as there is rarely a wait to be seated there!! Plus, the bonus of the aromas as food is being prepared.
If I weren't so vertically challenged at 5'3" I would be able to watch as well...alas, if I sit up very straight I catch glimpses of rhythmic dexterity in those hands who create the art that tastes fantastic!
Best to not be in a rush...sit, savor and enjoy this experience. -

(December 1, 2019, 7:50 pm)I love this restaurant and have been a loyal patron for over a decade; having moved here from Seattle. I do have a huge complaint though. When they are busy, they do not answer their phone and are reluctant to take any to go orders if they are busy. I get that they may not be 'staffed up' in the warmer months; however, this appears to have spilled into the cooler months as well and mainly affects their local and loyal patrons. They may want to reconsider ignoring the phone and saying no to their regular customers - I've also sent people to this restaurant that have a ferry reservation and are attempting to get something to go and said they would not return as the staff was rude. I've not myself experienced this, however, I do know that it is always best in a small town to keep the locals happy. Thank you.

(September 10, 2019, 5:16 am)Every single time I go to Hanazono I have a great experience. The wait staff is always so nice and helpful. We sat at the bar where you can see the open kitchen. The chefs take so much care in the food that they make, and the owner stops to say hi and ask how you are doing. The food is consistently wonderful and the sake menu is amazing, I want to try all of them!! Its a great place to have in walking distance. One of my favorite restaurants in Port Townsend!

(September 8, 2019, 3:23 pm)I have been here 8-10 times now. I'm so in love with the Tom Yum soup that it's hard to order anything else. I have branched out twice now and was not disappointed! This is one of my favorite restaurants on the peninsula... Quality ingredients, gorgeous presentation, and a friendly staff ❤️
