Gallo De Oro Mexican Restaurant

Great place to drink bad margaritas and eat good Mexican food. I love the items in the back of the menu. Hot is better. Older rock n roll bar crowd some evenings. Change of staff can be harrowing, as sometimes if you dont speak Spanish, (which I do) you might get the wrong order. No complaints though. Summer deck can be noisy (off of Bothel Way), but it's got a view of something. Lots of my local neighbors do not like this place. I do.

I didn't consider the food good but the people working there were very friendly and helpful.

Really great prices, very generous portions, tasty food: the triumvirate of dining excellence. Excellent service, friendly to children (kind about their messes), smiles from everyone from server to kitchen. I liked the art, I liked the music. I liked the guac and sour cream on my massive deluxe burrito that cost less than $12 and was more than I could eat.
We just went to Matzalan (restaurant), and I thought there were no more places like this. This became our new Mexican restaurant, a family joint. And I liked their salsa - lots of flavor, not too hot (actually, I could use a little more spice...). It was like finding a gem. Or a golden.... Rooster. Kind of a funny name - and that's another reason I love it. Having a $18 for $30 Groupon is another.
I will return, and I will write this review in hopes of personally correcting the saddening lack of other patrons there. Maybe 7:30pm on a Sunday is a slow time... I sure hope the place is doing well and that it stays there a long time.
Should have tried the churros. We DID try the horchata - DELICIOUS but too much ice and too little drink. Wife got the beef/shrimp fajita - delicious, and was probably enough for both of us. Kids got the grilled cheese and French fries - fries were OK, sandwich did not impress. Should have forced them to just eat dinner from the copious overflow on our own platters.

The food was phenomenal! And the waitress I met was funny, nice, and helpful. They have karaoke nights which is super cool (with party lights and everything!) I thoroughly enjoyed my food and time spent here. Would definitely recommend!
