I still enjoy dining at The Islander, but had a better overall experience at their old location. Almost every time I've visited the bar section at their new location, I've experienced poor/non-attentive service. I.e having to wait forever for menu, order taking, and paying the bill.
3 pitchers of Coors light and a Jameson cost me $83. I don't know what happened. People kept saying "Welcome to Mercer island". If it was Iraq I'd understand. But somehow Mercer island justifies this. I'm not from here so maybe I don't understand it.
Great ambience and location however the service is always at best mediocre and inconsistent. Food is in the most part excellent. You just need to be able to go with the flow in terms of the service, you'll never know what you'll get. Get your own water while you wait to get served other times, it's spot on. Not knocking it or promoting it, it is what it is, could be spectacular with a little bit more effort. Convenient for those on the island.
One of the only places on the island that offers a sit down breakfast. I go here multiple times a year on Sunday mornings with the family. Highly recommend the big plate which 2 people can definitely share. Waitors seem well trained in customer service as well. Atmosphere is reminiscent of Mercer Island which is great also. Overall, seems like the place is well managed.
