So, this place is fantastic. Despite being a large operation, they manage to make fantastic food. Their chowder is superb.
We ordered different dishes to try:
- salmon sliders
- scallop/prawn in bacon
- chowder
- Marionberry pie
Everything, starting with their warm bread all the way to dessert was absolutely excellent. Their customer service is great and not intrusive. Their decor is great. The views are fantastic. Highly recommend.
Food was delicious. Our waitress was very entertaining especially for our son. She was simply perfect! We had great time, ate great food and viewed beautiful views.
Just be aware of the parking in front of the restaurant. It's paid 24/7, even you can't see visible sign about that. Just double check where you park your car.
A go-to in Seattle. Their greatest strength is consistency. Consistency of service, consistency of food and consistency of amazing quality chowder. I’ve tried most things here but the standouts are the chowder and the fish tacos (excellently balanced with lime). Service is quick and prices are very reasonable. The waterfront background makes for a cute date location.
Great atmosphere and good food. Don't like chowder much but I enjoyed the chowder here. Great place to have lunch because you can walk around Lake Union afterwards. Price is like everything in downtown Seattle though. However, I would say it is still worth it. If the food is good and the service is nice, no amount of money would be too much.
Duke's is a local chain restaurant specializing in seafood and tourists. Usually, I avoid joints like Duke's, but it was five minutes from our hotel with a view of Lake Union. Thus, we strolled along the lake in the rain to lunch at Duke's.
I loved the view, and the kitschy nautical decor kind of fit my mood. The award winning New England clam chowder was good, not great, and the fish and chips happened to be very good. Our server Shawn, was the best thing about Duke's. His suggestions and good nature added an effervescence to our dining experience. Although the rain continued, it didn't damper our enjoyment of Seattle. Duke's might be fantastic on a bright summer day. On this kind of dreary, December day, it was just okay.
I should add, patrons pay for the view. Duke’s is rather expensive. Our lunch of two large chowders, two deviled eggs, an order of fish and chips, and two colas came to $80.00 without tip. That is high.
