Authentic Greek cuisine, musical performances, and dancing. Beautiful new location with full bar. Great Saturday date night spot, and excellent lunch specials.
The food was wonderful and it was our first time here. Service was down a person so it was hard for one person to do all on the night before new year’s party. With as much as they had to do. Very kind owner
Family of four had dinner here. Big portions. We loved everything. All was very fresh. Loved the Calamari. My one son got very sick -that night. It could be unrelated but he was very ill. He was the only one who had the gyro. My other son had lamb chops and my husband and I had vegetarian plates. Will try again, but my one son says he won’t go with us. He is sure it was the gyro.
So, I walked in here not really expecting much. And what I found was alarming. First off, the owner of the restaurant and his wife are world renowned musicians from Greece! The pictures in the entry/lobby had short stories and descriptions explaining their lives and passions, including the food. Next was being greeted, I mean who even ever feels like they're greeted at restaurants or stores anymore? Not here though, I was greeted with a warm smile and a "thank you for coming in!"
I was told it would be just a moment for a table, as I did not want to sit at the bar top they have (p.s. great selection of spirits and wine) As I waited I looked around at the other customers. It was like I had been transported to some strange happy place that resembled a restaurant in Greece. Ambient music played as people shared stories over great food while laughing and enjoying the brilliant atmosphere at Taki's.
I sat at a table near the back of the restaurant and almost forgot that I was in the Seattle area. Murals and Greek deco really pulled the restaurant together. But what's better than the atmosphere? The food! Lost in the experience, so far, I ordered their Gyro. Pretty typical of me when I'm in a Greek restaurant. But when I say the gyro raised the bar for my expectations going forward, I mean it.
Fresh, warm, crisp, flavorful filling and wonderful, is how I would explain the delightful food that I experienced.
All in all, from the moment I stepped into Takis to the moment I left, the experience was nothing short of amazing and share worthy.
This family has been running restaurants in the Ballard area for many many years. For that reason alone I would recommend you go to support them and you know you're going to get a good meal. Family-owned-and-operated usually on staff. Live music on some nights. It's kind of wide open in the middle I believe for dancing on music Knights.....I would suggest some Palms or live plants to warm the place up a bit on other nights :-)
