The Fat Hen is a cute brunch place that’s good for a casual weekend meal. It’s personally not the best brunch I’ve had but it’s definitely a great option if you’re in the area. But be warned - because the restaurant is so small, the wait can be very long (1.5 to 2 hours). I recommend you write your name down on the wait list and spend some time grabbing some coffee or a light snack at the bakery across the street to kill time!
As for the food, I got one of their baked eggs as well as the salmon Benedict. I really love salmon so I thought this dish was great. The baked eggs weren’t super flavored so if you want more kick, ask for their hot sauce!
Totally worth the wait on a Sunday! The food was amazing the drinks were on point. I Enjoyed my time at The Fat Hen, great atmosphere, down to earth people. I have a full tummy and ready for the Seattle day of rain!
Worth the wait!! Their signature skillets are perfect for cold, rainy days: soft baked eggs swimming in tomato sauce, with a loaf of freshly baked bread. Dipping the bread into the hot tomato sauce and pulling out the stretchy cheese was super satisfying, kind of like a deconstructed breakfast pizza slice.
I tried the Camicia skillet with mozzarella and basil, and my friend got the one with mushroom and sausage which was a totally different flavor profile with a little spice to it! They have delicious coffee drinks like the Foghorn latte with lavender and honey, or you can get boozy drinks like a spritzer!
The baked eggs truly hit the spot on a chilly morning when you want some comfort food. Also those chocolate chip cookies are incredible! I felt compelled to buy one on my way out and.I'm glad I did.
