I asked a local for a place to go for good chowder. No hesitation on their part - The Lofts. My mom and I had the clam chowder and it was amazing. The waitress was friendly and efficient. Could see it was a popular place to be. Will definitely be back.
I’ve been to The Loft several times and usually enjoy everything I get. It’s on the verge of being too pricey but still good. Tonight I ordered the Reuben sandwich and I must say it was MEH. I think the ingredients were good but it could have been prepared better. The marble rye was burnt on the outside which is hard to get over. You should still go here cuz like all restaurants some items are great and some aren’t. This place has been great overall. If I ordered this sandwich again it could be different and not burnt but I’ll probably stick with a steak or burger.
Atmosphere was excellent and the service staff too. Tried a cup of clam chowder and it was superb. Unfortunately that's where my love affair ended. My wife's and daughter's fish were too dry, and my Reuben was far from great, too burnt, weird corned beef, and not enough russian dressing, at least the sauerkraut was decent.. For a place that cost 40 bucks a person, I expected the main meals to be better. Go for an appetizer and drink, but skip the main meal...
Nice views and great friendly fast service. Had the Crab linguine, delicious! Just a little high $ w/o salad or any veggies on side, plus would help with the richness. Portion was big. Will definitely come back to try more!
Drove up for lunch on a beautiful fall day. First visit for me. Our server was wonderful. There was a large pitcher of water on the table and you don’t see that everywhere. I appreciated that touch.
I ordered the small market salad which was a nice size and came with a sweet raspberry vinaigrette on the side. I wasn’t given a choice of dressing. The large bowl of crab and corn soup was okay, it would have tasted better if it had been served hot. It was warm-ish, so minus one star. It had a green sauce garnished on top which was flavorless. The loss of the fourth star is for the coffee. It was a 15 minute wait for a fresh pot to brew and it was awful. I’ll probably go back because it has nice views of the water, but not before I try other restaurants in town.
