So awesome that they have an entire vegan section of the menu! We got the fajitas and sopes- both delicious. If you want vegan rice and beans you just have to ask for the black beans instead of refried.
Food is good enough, but I’ve had a couple times where it was undercooked and cold. And when I say cold, I mean cold… not even tepid. And honestly, it doesn’t have what I’d consider an authentic Mexican food taste vibe. I’ve lived in So Cal for many years, and been to lots of Mexican restaurants there, and in Mexico itself, so I know and love Mexican food. This place is ok enough, but doesn’t seem exactly authentic, and consequently not great, though not terrible. Hence the 3 star review.
This is the best Mexican food you are going to get in Washington state. It's definitely not on par with authentic southern California locations but it is still pretty good.
Just stopped here for lunch and the food was phenomenal. I wasn't really sure what pre-hispanic cuisine was, but it was great. I'm slightly confused because the sign out front says Ellensburg Mexican Grill. Inside it says, Yellow Church Cafe? I only gave it four stars instead of five because the table I was seated at was dirty and had food chunks on it. My waitress didn't notice it when she sat me down, but when she came back I asked her to move me to a different table, she did. I would definitely eat here again.
Food is really good here, however their spice level seems to be at one setting. The salsa for the chips is spicy, and not for everyone. Personally, I love spice but my wife and kids struggle with the heat, so a variety of spice levels would be nice.
Their dish sizes are HUGE, so one dish goes well between two people. If you order like that, then their food is well priced. But a dish for one person and you get 2.5 meals for the price, and so I hope you like left overs.
