Gamble Sands is a truly special place. Our group of 4 booked a stay and play package the weekend after Labor Day, and played the full course twice, and Quicksands twice. I loved the tranquil feeling of the resort more than anything. We remarked on a few occasions just how quiet the surroundings are while playing. When you couple that, and the panoramic views from everywhere on the course, you really do get the feeling that you’ve got the place to yourself. The course is so much fun! We had an eclectic mix of handicaps ranging from 4-16 and all of us felt that it was fair, yet challenging. After a few holes you start to realize that playing the humps and bumps of the course is the way to go, as opposed to the typical high flop shot approaches etc. I’ve heard some say that the undulations are gimmicky, but I disagree. The Quicksands course might qualify as such, but it’s meant to be played for fun and not taken too seriously (in my opinion). A couple downsides, and these are pretty minor really, is the Danny Boy restaurant is a little mediocre. The steak and the pork tenderloin I had the night before were just average, and the range balls are pretty worn out. These are minor gripes, and didn’t affect the overall trip. The Inn is awesome! The rooms are very nice and feel upscale, and you’ve gotta love waking up with a hot coffee, cool morning, and a massive football field size putting green to play around on before the big boy course. We will certainly be back when the new course is finished and I highly recommend making the trek to Gamble Sands if you’re reading this and wondering if it’s worth the hype and journey. It absolute is. The resort is equal parts Bandon (Resort type feel) Chambers Bay (Big and forgiving) and Wine Valley (Course conditions and layout).
Fantastic weekend at Gamble Sands. The course is immaculate and we really enjoyed our stay. The staff on the property went above and beyond to accommodate our group. Kudos to Matt Reed for helping me out last Sunday. Much appreciated!!
Just got back from a guy's trip at Gamble Sands. We stayed at the resort 2 nights and played 3 rounds of golf on the main course. The course is very fun. Lots of risk reward and based off the tees you can make it as hard or manageable as you want. The wind completely changes the course. We played one round on a windy day and had to hit drivers, into the wind, on the last par 3 then hit 400 yard drives on the last par 5, with the wind. I will definitely come back to play here. The rooms are very nice and overlook a large putting green. I enjoyed all my meals at the resort, they are a bit understaffed but these days who isn't? The short course, Quick Sands, is a fun play after the 18 hole round. Think, Shorty's at Bandon.
Had a great weekend at Gamble Sands. What a great course and facility! Special shout out to Matt Reed and the rest of the staff at the pro shop. Looking forward to our next trip.
Great golf resort in Brewster, Washington. Their lodges have incredible views of the lake/river and surrounding mountains. Our lodge was well kept and very cozy when we went up during cold and rainy October. Very friendly staff. Will be back!
