You can tell these guys take pride in their food, as the red potatoes and rye bread toast were off the charts! The bread is homemade and I think they use bacon fat in potatoes to take them to another level. IPA was smooth and very good.

BBQ and beer are a match made in heaven, but in this case the devil is in delays. Beer is on point with a great selection of styles to please just about anyone; however, the kitchen leaves a bit to be desired. The food was quite good, but with a 1.5 hour wait to get a fish and chips, you really need to plan ahead. The fish and chips was very good, but still came out 20 minutes before the appetizer. Staff appeared to be making an effort, but it's obvious they could use more. Get the food out a bit faster, and this could be a go-to spot!

Although we love this place for the beer and food the service staff on the bar side has declined. Sat at the bar for some time to be looked at by two separate bartenders and not acknowledged. When I finally called out to one to ask for a beer we were hardly spoken to and definitely not smiled at. No. Not terribly busy either. From someone who works in the industry management may want to re evaluate how the bartenders are allowed to treat customers.

I've been to Bastion a couple of times and, while it's a bit off the beaten path (unless you happen to be on the way to/from Anacortes) it's worth a trip to check out their expansive beer menu and cool vibe. My most recent visit was with my daughter on our way to the ferry. We both enjoyed some snacks and I got a pint of their Irish Red which was delicious. We shared a hummus plate and a piece of key lime pie, and my daughter loved their lemonade. The food ordering process is a bit confusing (you order your food on the restaurant side, and your beer on the brewery side) but it's cool that kids can come along either way!

Love this hidden gem. Family friendly. Well behaved dog friendly. Everyday Burger is a delicious deal!
