I can honestly say this is the best Mexican food in all of Whatcom county, if not the best food of any type. The restaurant is small, with only about six tables, so when you walk in you are immediately greeted by Dora, the owner, who is a very kind woman who puts love and care into everything she does there. The kitchen is fully visible and immaculate. The salsa is rich in flavor. The tamales are the best I've ever had, and the prices are pretty reasonable considering this was just recently featured on Yelp as one of the 100 best restaurants in the entire country. You can and should call ahead and reserve tamales if you have specific flavors you are looking for, but honestly they are all great.

We.ordered a half dozen, 1/2 chicken and 1/2.pork. We ordered and not 2 minutes later we had some of the best tamales we:be ever had. Will definitely be a repeat customer! Good job ❤️

Great selection including vegetarian and vegan options - including vegan choices for beans, rice and enchiladas. Salsas are very tasty as well. Occasionally we have found one of the tamales will be overcooked, but for the most part, everything we've tried is delicious.

The food is fresh and delicious and authentic. It's like going to your mom's house. The owner is the nicest lady around and super friendly. You will not be disappointed.

These are the best tamales I've eaten since leaving California 15 years ago. More importantly, the tamales stirred many fond memories of New Mexico. I've traveled all over the world, but I've never found a restaurant outside New Mexico that has captured the subtle flavors of the State's hatch pepper, pork, avocado and corn based cuisine more authentically.

Restaurant proprietor, Dora is also part of this authentic New Mexico experience. She tries to greet every customer with a warm New Mexico welcome. Try the spicy beans and don't be afraid to try the spicier Verde (green) sauce when given a choice. It really isn't that spicy, but it does bring out the unmistakable flavor of the restaurants signature hatch pepper heritage.

I sampled the Tamale Plate -- any two tamales garnished with a simple, green salad, tomato, cilantro avocado sauce, crema and queso fresco and served with rice, spicy beans and tortilla chips. I ordered a Signature Pork Hatch Tamale (pork, hatch pepper-based chili verde) and a Traditional Chicken Tamale (chicken, hatch pepper-based chili verde). Both were fantastic, but they also feature several vegetarian and even a vegan tamale. If tamales aren't your thing, order one of their bowl dishes, a wet burrito, chilaquiles (enchilada casserole) or flautas and insist on tasting a bite of someone else's tamale, but Don't leave without trying at least a bite of one of their tamales.

Two other things worth mentioning: 1) The tamales are gluten-free -- every bit as tasty as the more familiar (but, far-less healthy), traditional tamales I grew up eating; and 2) Every tamale is made fresh daily.

Take-Out or Dine-In -- anything on the menu or purchase a variety of family-style meals featuring 6, 12 our 18 tamales or pick-up a half-dozen fresh it frozen tamales ($15) or a dozen fresh or frozen tamales ($25) to supplement your home meal planning.
