To start, I’ve never been a big fan of seat yourself places. Feels informal, less friendly. However, when my waitress, Hope, came over, she was very welcoming and friendly. As I observe her with others, she’s the same way. A good start.
The menu is rather simplistic with your average country style home cooking. I have a knack for trying everyone’s Country Fried Steak, so I got that with mashed potatoes, green beans and chili as the soup.
Within a few seconds she returned with a small bowl of chili that looked as if it was carelessly thrown into the bowl. I don’t have high expectations being at a truck stop.
Then the food arrived. It looked pretty good. The steak was a warm hot while the gravy was very hot. The green beans were a little too mushy for my taste but most restaurants seem to do that. The mashed potatoes were nothing spectacular but they were good I did not eat them all but maybe one taste because The country fried steak really filled me up. The sweet tea was good and the bread consisted of a general which was nice but a little round packet of Land O Lakes butter which added a nice finishing touch to the meal.
As for the restaurant it’s self it was nothing spectacular it’s attached to the Valero which makes the restaurant easily accessible to a family on a car trip. The tables were covered in a white claw with red placemats which was reminiscent of my childhood days at my grandmas church cabin.
Overall I would highly recommend this place due to their good tasting food, great customer service and reasonable prices.
