El Alegre

What a great little place. A little pricey but I mean... Look at what they're offering. More variety and authenticity than most other restaurants in the entire state!

The Madison area isn't exactly known for good Mexican food, and for good reason. Most places around here serve Taco Bell quality at restaurant prices. El Alegre is different. Fresh ingredients and friendly service. The house seafood enchiladas were the best I've had in a very long time. I plan on becoming a regular at this place.

Fantastic place! This family run restaurant is absolutely wonderful. The place is gorgeous. The bar, the booths, the lighting were all done extremely well and very visually appealing. The food was outstanding. Their chips and salsa were great, try their spicy green salsa, it's excellent! We ordered queso w/chorizo which may have been the best I've ever had. Tacos and tamales didn't leave anything to be desired. I highly recommend this place.

What a wonderful surprise. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere,and GREAT food. I had the veggie burrito. I was a bit unsure of how the broccoli and cauliflower would work with the rice and beans in terms of flavor and texture. The slightly crisp veggies that had browned on the grill with a burst of flavor was fantastic. The combination of rice and beans with the veggies and some cheese but not to much cheese made this a really good dish. I left full but not feeling heavy. I did take some of my food home to share. Even my daughter thought it was great. We will definitely be back.

This is by far the BEST Mexican food I have had. The food is authentic and the presentation is great. Service has been good every time we have been there. So glad we have such a great place to go to in DeForest.

There is seriously something wrong with anyone who rates this place any differently. You don’t know what good authentic Mexican food is.
