Ancho and Agave

Went for lunch with co-workers and it was packed. This place has become very popular in the few months it has been open with good reason. Everyone agreed the food was absolutely amazing. Well crafted, delicious entrees with complex flavors and quality ingredients. The prices were moderate, but the portions were also quite generous. Our wait staff was very friendly and ready to explain and recommend. The decor was also very nice, open but enough half walls to not feel like a cafeteria. The arrangement with the bar in the center worked very well. Overall a mix of industrial and comfortable, very pleasant to linger.

Fantastic food! The place was packed, but we were seated pretty quickly. Our waiter, Jose, was fantastic. First time here, he took the time to explain the menu and made sure we had any of our questions answered. Definitely will be back!

Very nice place for dinner. Mainly serves Mexican food. I tried the tacos which were absolutely amazing. It’s very nice they give free hot nachos while you read the menu. Staff is nice and friendly, and very helpful if you need suggestions on the food.
Good drinks as well.

I loved the fact that on Tuesday the tacos are half price!

This is a wonderful place to dine. If you’re looking for a causal spot with great food and a friendly staff, this is definitely a place to consider. Their street fare styled Mexican cuisine pulls in familiar flavors but with various unique twists here and there. This is not authentic Mexican food, it’s more of an interpretation. Even when filled to the brim, there’s never a sense that the place is overcrowded, as great attention was paid to the spacious layout of the overall restaurant. After several visits to this establishment and a very thorough sampling of the entire food/ drink menu I have yet to be disappointed. If you find yourself in Middleton, WI definitely consider stopping by.

The name Ancho (chili) and Agave (a sweet) give some clue as to the flavor and type of cuisine to expect. There is a Mexican twist to this food, but far from typical Mexican chains. I ordered the carnitas burrito and was surprised at the sweet and savory flavor with a hint of spice. Others ordered similarly spicy and sweet meals. The service was prompt and friendly and the ambiance modern Mexican/American. I would recommend it and will be back.
